River pollution

I have seen in my area that in the bank of our Brahmaputra river many religious things like red/yellow/white cloth, god's idols, fruits flowers,etc...were thrown not only in the banks of the river in the river also. Idk why people believe in such type of superstitions , ok it's their choice I don't want to pass any comment on this but they should have this much common sense that they should not throw this things in our rivers not only people municipality is also responsible for this they should create a system to clean our rivers. Their leaders itself says that Nadi Bachao, Jeevan Bachao (Save Rivers, Save Life). This need to stop 🙏
