Shortage of Teachers and Absence of Science Colleges in Rural Assam
1. Shortage of Teachers
Most government high schools in rural Assam have only one or two teachers for thousands of students. As a result, the quality of education is very poor.
2. Lack of Science Colleges
Students from rural areas who pass Class 10 and want to study Science do not have any college nearby. The nearest science college is 50 to 60 km away. Poor families cannot bear the cost of travel and hostels. Therefore, many students are forced to either drop out or choose Arts instead of Science.
