Farmers are suffering

Farmers are not doing well. Every year, the prices of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, land leasing, and water keep rising, but the price of rice for the farmer doesn't increase even by one rupee; rather, it is decreasing. My father used to cultivate 5 to 6 bighas of land every year, but due to these reasons, he has reduced it to just 2 bighas this year. This is because, far from making a profit, paddy cultivation is leading to heavy losses.
The rice traders at the local markets (haats) have formed a syndicate and are not allowing any outside buyers to enter. They are collectively driving prices down. What is a poor farmer supposed to do?
