Political Influence and Lack of Accountability in Local Governance

While democratic structures are in place and many representatives work actively for development, there are ongoing perceptions that political influence can sometimes affect decision-making in public services and resource allocation.

One issue is uneven development across different areas. Some neighborhoods receive faster infrastructure upgrades, while others experience delays in basic services such as roads, drainage, and sanitation. This creates a sense of inequality in civic attention.

Another concern is transparency in local projects. Citizens may not always have clear access to information about budgets, timelines, or decision-making processes, which can reduce trust in governance.

Public grievance mechanisms exist, but response times and follow-up actions can vary, leading some residents to feel their concerns are not addressed effectively.

Political competition can also influence how resources are prioritized, sometimes shifting focus toward visible or high-impact projects rather than long-term community needs.

At the same time, it is important to recognize that many public officials and representatives are actively working to improve infrastructure and services under challenging conditions.

Strengthening accountability, improving transparency, ensuring equal development across regions, and increasing citizen participation are key steps toward better governance.

A healthy democracy depends not only on elections, but on consistent, fair, and transparent governance that serves all communities equally.
