Corruption in health
The Department of Health has a serious problem. Senior doctors are often not available in government hospitals because they remain busy in private practice. I am especially talking about Kashmir. You may not believe it, but in many hospitals the people running OPDs are not even qualified doctors. Some are only 10th pass or 12th pass and do not hold an MBBS degree.
Through RTIs, I repeatedly asked why this is happening. The RTI replies clearly stated that such staff are not authorized to prescribe medicines. But in reality, these same people attend patients in OPDs and write major prescriptions every day.
I filed many complaints, yet no justice has been done. Meanwhile, innocent people are suffering and even losing their lives in hospitals because patients believe the person sitting on the government chair is a real doctor, while in reality many are technicians or unqualified staff.
If service rules apply to all government employees, then why are doctors above those rules? If they are paid from taxpayers’ money, then why are they not giving proper public service? Why are they not performing their duty in hospitals?
