Proposal to introduce minimum educational degrees and qualifying exams for political candidates.

Dear CJP Team,

I am writing to raise a critical concern regarding the qualification rules for politicians in India.

Currently, there is a major contradiction in our system: even for entry-level government jobs, like a clerk or a peon, candidates must hold specific qualifications and pass competitive exams. However, to contest an election and become a lawmaker, a Minister, a CM, or the PM, no educational degree or exam is required.

While public voting is essential in a democracy, popularity alone is not enough. Leaders are responsible for making complex laws regarding sustainable development, managing the country's economy, and handling foreign policies. If a leader lacks a basic education, it is highly difficult for them to fully understand the long-term impacts of these policies on the nation.

Therefore, I believe the system should change. Political candidates should first be required to:

Hold a minimum academic degree.

Clear a basic qualification exam.

Only those candidates who pass these criteria should be allowed to contest elections and be chosen by public voting.

I request (CJP) to consider this issue and advocate for electoral reforms that ensure our leaders are qualified enough to govern effectively.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
