The Jobless Growth Scam: How India’s GDP Hides the Biggest Heist of Our Generation
India’s GDP grows at 7% every year. Our employment grows at 1.9%. Nobody in power talks about the gap because the gap is not an accident. It is the design.\nBetween 2011 and 2023 the economy grew 7 times faster than jobs. 28.4% of graduates are unemployed. For women graduates it is 34.8%. Top IT companies cut 22,000 jobs in one year while profits grew. Infrastructure capex crossed 11 lakh crore in FY25 with zero mandatory job creation targets attached. AI will displace 38 million Indian jobs by 2030 and there is no transition fund, no safety net, and no plan.\nThe GDP number is real. But it is being used to hide the fact that growth is being captured by capital while labour gets nothing. That is not economics. That is a scam.\nWe demand one thing to start: a single publicly audited monthly jobs dashboard disaggregated by age, gender, education, and region. If the growth is real, show us where the jobs are.\nThank you.\n- Swati Mittal.
